THE TRAINEE'S TRAVEL KIT
A small hanging closet (100x50x50 cm) is at the disposal of each trainee.
It is recommended to use a soft travelling bag ( 40x40x65 cm) as suitcases are too bulky to be stored  on board. Packing a small amount of clothes is also advisable.

Include a complete set of spare clothes and some warm clothing- even in summer, night watches can be quite chilly! Washing and drying your linen is not possible on board.
Each bunk is equipped with a fleece blanket.

Contents of a typical travel kit:

ACCESSORIES
• A sleeping bag (compulsory)
• A small lock for your closet (recommended)
• A small pillow (unavailable on board)
• A towel and personal toiletries
• Sunglasses and corrective glasses
• Working gloves (in soft leather)
• Photo and/or video camera (Belem and the Foundation cannot be held liable for the loss of personal valuables).

CLOTHES
Apart from your usual seasonal sports clothing, you will need:
• Waterproof or oilcloth trousers and jacket
• Waterproof boots (rubber or leather)
• Tennis or deck shoes with non-slip soles
• Jumpers (preferably wool or fleece)
• Warm socks
• A bonnet - for those chilly night watches!

UNWELCOME ABOARD:
Food (already available on ship)
Electrical equipment (radio, MP3, hair dryer)
Musical instruments (unless small and not too noisy, such as a harmonica or an Irish flute)

Alcohol. It is strictly forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages on board.

On the day you embark, the First mate will issue a full list of security instructions.
